Why It’s Important To Revisit Past Content

A few years ago I did some simple tutorial video's to post on facebook.  Nothing fancy just a few screen captures on specific topics in some area's I thought could help. Back then it was all about uploading to YouTube and sharing the link on Facebook (before the organic video phase on facebook). While I thought the tips were great, they didn't really resonate with my facebook audience.  So as we do quite often with our marketing, we evaluate what we are doing and move on to other marketing strategies and more often than not, we forget about what we have done. Last week I went into my YouTube channel looking for something else and didn't I get the shock of my life when one of the video's I created has been viewed over 3200 time!  WOW and not only that, there were comments. So what can we learn from this? 1. Don't forget what you have done in the past. Evaluating what does and doesn't work is great and it is ok to change your marketing strategy however don't overlook what you have done in the past.  You created the content for a reason and just because it didn't work where you thought it would, there are other platforms that it might be more relevant in. 2. Branding is Key. Whatever content you create, make sure it is branded with your logo, relevant keywords and specific title.  Always put a link back to your website.  When conducting a google search around this title, I was amazed to find it on Page 1.     3. Revisit and Reuse As I said before, I created this content for a reason so why not get the most out of it.  2 [...]

Tips For Organising Your Paperwork

Stay organised & avoid that filing headache Organisation is the key to staying productive and as we head into the second quarter of the financial year,  it's time to get your office sorted & make the rest of the year a streamlined process & stay one step ahead of that dreaded "filing". When it comes to paper filing, have a clearly labelled tray for your filing & at the end of the week dedicate 30 minutes to filing & ensure everything is filed before you finish for the week.  This will ensure that first thing Monday morning you start the week with an empty tray with no excess paperwork clogging up your workspace. Tips for organising your paperwork Colour Coded Paper Files Whether you are filing using lever arch folders or a lateral filing system, colour coding your files is a great way to easily identify your files. Choose a colour for each department or admin section & be consistent across both systems.  e.g.Accounts - Blue, IT - Green, Advertising - Purple.  This way if you are on the run & need to grab a file, you can easily identify where it is by the colour of what you are after.   Electronic Filing Whether you are using dropbox, google drive or your own cloud based filing system, the key to productivity is knowing where your files are. Create clear structured folders which include plenty of sub-folders to help keep things specific. Give files logical  names & include dates in file names where possible.  The goal when naming files is to be able to tell what the file is about without having to open it & look. Be consistent with your approach & whatever you do stick [...]
